Japan Week 2025 in Manchester

I am honoured and excited to announce that I have been appointed as coordinator for Japan Week 2025 in Manchester, in collaboration with Manchester City Council and the International Friendship Foundation (IFF). As someone who has lived and worked in Japan, and has studied Japanese language and culture extensively, this opportunity holds a special place in my heart.

My invaluable first-hand experience living and working in Japan allowed me to deepen my understanding of Japanese customs, values, and way of life, and not only instilled in me a deep appreciation for the country's rich cultural heritage but also sparked a curiosity and eagerness to share the beauty of Japan with the world. This journey of discovery has fuelled my dedication and passion to promoting cross-cultural dialogue and building bridges between Japan and the UK and most importantly, Greater Manchester.

Japan Week 2025, scheduled to take place from the 4th to the 9th of September, aims to celebrate and showcase the rich cultural tapestry of Japan in the heart of Manchester. Japan Week not only seeks to promote cultural exchange and understanding between the two countries but also to foster lasting connections and partnerships.

 Through a diverse range of events, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and interactive experiences, Japan Week will offer attendees a glimpse into the beauty and uniqueness of Japanese arts, traditions and more. From traditional tea ceremonies to music, arts and grass roots cultural exchange, there will be something for everyone to enjoy and appreciate and it ignited a spark within me that continues to burn brightly to this day.

 As I take on the role working with Lisa and the team at Manchester City Council and the IFF as  coordinator for Japan Week 2025 in Manchester, I am deeply grateful for the foundation laid by my experiences in Japan and the lessons learned from its people. It is my hope that through events like Japan Week, we can foster greater understanding, respect, and mutual admiration between diverse cultures, paving the way for a more harmonious and interconnected world.
